Art Club Events
Community Service Painting at the Horace Nye Home
As part of their community service the Art Club members paint and decorate the windows of the Horace Nye Home in Elizabethtown with seasonal images. During the Fall season these images generally consist of Harvest scenes depicting pumpkins, gourds, squash, apples, and falling leaves. The members have a great time decorating the windows; knowing that the residents of the Horace Nye Home derive enjoyment and pleasure from their artwork as they pass through the hallway.
Annual Field Trip to the Shelburne Museum in Vermont
While at the Shelburne Museum the Art Club members saw a wonderful exhibit of works created by Tiffany, as well as a fantastic display of antique and custom built motorcycles. They also had an opportunity to view a display of American textiles and quilts and tour several of the other museum buildings, such as the Beach Lodge.
Fund Raising Bake Sales
The raising of funds is an important part of Art Club as it is the money raised that enables the members to plan and take a yearly trip to some fantastic museum of their choosing. This year the members have elected to go to the Fredic Remington Museum in Ogdensburg, NY. It will be a full day of travel, sight seeing, museum activities, and dining with all expenses paid by their hard work and fund raising. Members earn the right to attend the yearly trip through their participation in club events and community service projects.
Halloween Dance Event at ELCS
The Art Club sponsored a Halloween Dance for grades 5 - 8 on October 30th as one of their fund raising events. The night proved to be extremely successful with a great turn out of costumed students eager to not only dance to the music provided by DJ Master, Mr. Hughes, but also to participate in the fun activites and games provided by the Art Club Members. All in all it was a successful and fun-filled night for all involved.
